Uncle Hunny and Little Nephew
Oh man! There were about 800 little tykes in the kids race at Burlingame today. Hunny and I rode the train up to Burlingame to watch my little nephew do his thing. There were so many kids of all ages up to about 12 years old. So, my little nephew turned seven today. What a great way to spend his birthday. His proud mom drove up early to register along with grandma and grandpa. Both great video and photo production crews. Little nephew was too excited to eat breakfast. He was a trooper waiting 2 hours for the race to start. I gave him a little race tip at the start. I told him a super secret strategy - have F-U-N! That is what he did exactly plus the little competitive blood in him. It was fun watching all the other kids race their hearts out. They can smile while racing hard - that is hard to do! The promoters did an outstanding job and it was great to see the kids have goodies after the race.
We had a great birthday lunch at Mings in Palo Alto after the kids race. Mings offers vegan dishes now! That is cool. Mings is a Chinese dimsum restaurant right off Embarcadero. Their food improved from the last time I ate there.
I’ve bike commuted a lot this last week. It’s sort of a prelude exercise for our trip. Riding to a destination is really cool. The air qualities been crappy and I hope I am okay. Today, I can actually see the mountains surrounding San Jose like Mt. Hamilton. It looks like the smog is starting to lift up. Much better than the last few days.
Hopefully air quality will be better the next few days…
